Who is DJ Vysota?
I am DJ Vysota also known as Rt. Rev. Elliot Esch, an Irish-Norwegian DJ and Producer from Colmesneil, Texas. I am also a session drummer. My production work spans Deep House, Acid House (live), Progressive House, Melodic Dubstep, Atmospheric Dungeon Synth, Hardbass (live), and Techno. I am also an archbishop in the Orthodox Church of Texas, though I do not use my current artistic platform to preach.
What inspired the name?
"Vysota" (высота or висота) in Belarusian means "Uplift" or "Elevation". The name reflects elevation, both in sound and in mindset. It represents rising above trends, pushing boundaries, and creating music that feels expansive and atmospheric. I first used the name DJ Vysota in August of 2025 when I was making Daft Punk remixes. I used both names DaftAc1d and DJ Vysota, but eventually started using just DJ Vysota, and then Vysota for uploading.
How did you get started in music?
I began as a drummer, and I also played bass guitar. I then started playing live as a session drummer.
How did you get started in electronic music?
I originally liked the songs Bangarang (Skrillex), Wake Me Up (Avicii), and Around The World (Daft Punk). I then heard Daft Punk's Alive 2007 album and Skrillex's More Monsters and Sprites EP and the Tomorrowland Arising of Life set by Yves V. I then decided I wanted to pursue electronic production more, I downloaded Serato and Ableton Live, and began learning the ways of electronic music. My first DJ set was at Lake Syracuse, NY at a beach on the 4th of July 2025, I used a Numark controller and a Harbinger PA. It felt epic to play dubstep under the fireworks. Upon my return home, I started experimenting more in Ableton Live, using MIDI signals from an Alesis digital piano to compose music. This evolved when I was gifted a Behringer TD-3 Synthesizer for my birthday (thanks ma and pa) and I made a few Acid House tracks by recording through Stereo Out from my Harbinger PA system and my computer. The TD3 can be heard on a few of my tracks including my Close Encounters remix and my song Orkeste. I used the name Daft Ac1d to upload a few Daft Punk remixes, but then eventually went fully to the name Vysota for producing and DJ Vysota for my DJ sets. I had then changed my SoundCloud from Krigsmann my Black Metal band to DJ Vysota. I then, using my Christmas money, upgraded my DJ controller to a PioneerDJ DDJ-REV1 and my speakers to Peavey PR15 PA speakers, and I was gifted an audio interface from my cousin (thanks Patrick). I still use Numark headphones that came with the Party Mix Live controller but I also have some Audiotechnica headphones. Currently, more updates on my career will be posted on the Announcements page.
